Warm and Dry

Construction sites across our area are racing to get their roofs on and their buildings enclosed before winter. Our project is no different. As the steel and precast concrete structure of the patient wings nears completion, steel roof decking is placed making way for layers of rigid insulation and a thick, rubber membrane.  Once this system is installed, our building will essentially be dry and we can start to heat the enclosed space. It takes a tremendous amount of effort for projects to reach this stage, which we call, “dried in”.

Inside of the facility, wall framing is well under way. New walls are being completed with the assistance of a robotic printer, lovingly known as “EV-3PO,” a play on the famous Star Wars robot. The assistance provided by EV-3PO is helping to move the framing along efficiently and with less error or rework. Where the new wall framing is complete, the installations of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are proceeding. Our project will be in this, “rough-in” phase for the next couple of months, followed by the start of drywall installation. Now is a great time to see the “bones” of the building come together.
